Dr. Persia Neumann

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Persia was born in the San Francisco bay area and raised in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. She grew up riding in western disciplines including cattle sorting, reining, and western dressage. Dr. Persia worked on a ranch where she developed a strong passion for equine management, teaching, and rehabilitation. Combining this passion for horses and love of intricate science led her towards obtaining her doctorate in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Persia received her Bachelors of Science in Animal Science from Oregon State University where she completed an honors thesis and developed a strong appreciation for equine science. Dr. Persia earned her DVM from the University of California, Davis where she worked as an Equine ICU technician and an after-hours anesthesia technician for emergency surgeries. She then completed an equine internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colorado. Through these experiences, she developed a strong interest in critical care, internal medicine, sports medicine and advanced dentistry.

Dr. Persia’s favorite part of being an equine veterinarian is the close relationships that she has developed with many of the clients and patients at BDE. She has a soft spot for equine rescue and geriatric medicine and loves to help clients help their horses transition gracefully into their later years.

When Dr. Persia is not working on horses she can be found in the mountains hiking, kayaking, or exploring with her husband Carsten and her rat terrier named Snoopy.
