Ophthalmology
Horse eyes are complex, delicate structures. Black Diamond offers comprehensive diagnostics and treatment to ensure ocular diseases or conditions are diagnosed promptly for treatment interventions to be implemented.
A detailed ophthalmic examination will look at the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, anterior camber, iris, lens, vitreous and fundus. Additional diagnostics such as fluorescein stain, ultrasound and tonometry can be applied to collect more information on the disease process affecting the horse.
Examples of commonly encountered ocular conditions in horses include:
Corneal Ulcers
Cataracts
Equine Recurrent Uveitis “Moon Blindness”
Immune Mediated Keratitis
Uveal Cysts
Glaucoma
